American Legion Baseball extends winning streaks

Both Rolling Hills Post 43 American Legion baseball teams competed at the same location against different opponents to open the week.

From Scribner, the Post 43 Seniors competed against Oakland-Craig while the Wayne Jrs squared off against Hooper.

In the Seniors outing, Rolling Hills Post 43 secured a 15-3 win to extend their winning streak to nine straight and now sit 15-1 overall.

Rolling Hills Post 43 held a 9-1 lead after the first inning. Following a scoreless second, the Wayne Seniors used a 3-2 advantage in the third and scored three more runs in the fifth to win 15-3. Rolling Hills Post 43 Seniors outhit Oakland-Craig, 7-3.

Gavin Redden singled three times, tripled, drove in four runs and scored three times while Aiden Liston doubled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Calvin Ankeny singled, drove in three runs and scored; Jase Dean singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Jaxson Kneifl accounted for a RBI and three runs scored; Adrian Contreras added two RBI and a run scored; Kaleb Moormeier tacked on a RBI as Wyatt Heikes scored.

Gavin Anderson (93 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in five innings allowing three earned runs off three hits while striking out six batters, walking two and hitting two.

During the Juniors game, Rolling Hills Post 43 picked up their seventh straight win thanks to a 9-0 victory over Hooper. Post 43 is now 11-1 on the season.

Wayne opened scoring with a run in the first inning followed by back-to-back three-run innings in the third and fourth. After two scoreless innings, Rolling Hills Post 43 Juniors added two more runs in the seventh to win 9-0 and outhit Hooper, 6-1.

Jaxson Kneifl singled twice and scored twice while Drew Reinhardt singled and drove in three runs.

Brodrick Tiedtke singled and drove in a run; Brodey Munter singled and scored twice; Jaxon Chase singled; Brayden Rajaee-Hallgren accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Chase Sturm and James Birkel both added a RBI and run scored as Parker Patefield scored.

Tiedtke (54 pitches) picked up the win in four innings allowing one hit while striking out eight batters. Munter (47) worked three innings striking out nine batters and walking one.
